What you’ll learn

  • Set up a score in Sibelius software
  • Enter notes and chords into a score using a variety of input methods
  • Add and edit articulation, phrasing and expression markings
  • Add and edit different types of text in a score
  • Export Sibelius scores to other formats including graphics, MIDI and audio
Learn a variety of note entry methods and basic editing techniques including: step-time entry using a computer keyboard and MIDI keyboard. Create and edit articulation, phrasing and expression markings. Add lyrics and other types of text in to your score. Work in SATB format using Sibelius voices/layers. Export a Sibelius score to other formats to publish your work, use on a website and collaborate with other musicians. Ideal for composers, arrangers, or music students who want to be able to hear the music they are writing Students should possess computer and music reading skills.

Requirements

The ability to read music notation is necessary
A strong interest in music
Some experience of using Apple computers would be an advantage, but support during class will be given
Basic computer skills, file management, etc.

Pen and paper to take notes 
A USB memory stick to save your work
Handouts and materials given by the tutor
If you have a score/piece of music you want to work on in class, you can bring that too.
